Yum! With all of the deliciousness surrounding the holiday season I thought I would share a quick and easy Chocolate Mousse recipe that won’t have you feeling so bad when your done eating it. It’s chock full of good fats, calcium loaded almond milk and loads of great magnesium in the cocoa powder – which helps us all to relax a bit. So there, feel good about eating this dessert:)
So here you go:
- 3 pitted dates
- 1 tbsp organic medium maple syrup
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2 avocados
- 1/3 cup unsweetened almond/coconut milk
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/3 cup raw cocoa powder
- 1tsp vanilla (or a tad more if you like the flavour!)
- pinch of cinnamon
- pinch of sea salt
KETO EDITS: If you’re following a keto style way of eating then change it up a bit! Try 1 date instead of 3. Use half a tbsp of manuka honey and drop the maple syrup. Play with this recipe until the sweetness matches your ideal taste bud preference.
I used my Vitamix to blend all of the above ingredients until it was silky smooth! Perfect consistency. Depending on the strength of your blender you may have to add slightly more liquid, be careful not to overdo it though.
For a little extra flavour I just took some frozen strawberries put them in a saucepan on low heat, added some water and vanilla. Let them warm up and then mashed them up to put over the chocolate mousse. Lovely!
