Revive your liver! Top 3 Tips to bring your liver back to health
So you had a blast over Stampede 2014 but now you may be feeling all of those 7am starts! With all of the beers, shots, more beers and wine that has been free flowing for the past 10 days you can be forgiven for not feeling yourself just yet.
Not to worry! I have compiled a list of the easiest top 3 tips to help revive your liver and get your body back to summer shape minus the gross hot summer hangovers! Read it while enjoying a glass of delicious green goodness (recipe below!):
- Stop drinking!! No really. Just in case you weren’t sure, lay off the hair of the dog for a few days to give your systems a chance to catch up. Aim for 7 days but even 5 or 3 days will help. Instead load up on at least 8 glasses of fresh, clean water. Begin each day with some fresh lemon juice (from an actual lemon not the lemon juice in the container!) squeezed in your first glass to help stimulate the liver.
- Invest in a good multi-strain probiotic (think acidophilus) to help re-populate the healthy bacteria in your GI tract that has taken a strain from the last few days. Deep-fried foods, alcohol, lack of sleep and stress all contribute to a comprised balance of the good bacteria in your intestinal tract.
- Load up on good sources of fiber such as leafy greens (think kale, spinach, broccoli, green beans, etc) to help eliminate the toxins that are in your system and get a great shot of much needed vitamins such as Vitamin C which is a very potent immune enhancer.
To help kick start your progress I have included a quick and easy green smoothie recipe for you to try. Enjoy!
